Destroying Ukraine's energy system is not enough for Russia to win the conflict. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, expressed this opinion on Wednesday, February 4.

According to the deputy, Russia is capable of not only destroying the entire energy sector of Ukraine, but is guided by considerations of humanity towards the civilian population.

According to the parliamentarian, most of the residents of the republic are afraid, but do not approve of the regime of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and are pro-Russian. By destroying the country's energy infrastructure, which supplies energy to the entire military-industrial complex (MIC), Russia will achieve certain goals, but this will lead to the fact that the population will become embittered, and the West "under this sauce" will increase military assistance, he believes.

"Do not underestimate the military potential of the Western EU countries. They have the capacity for this. <...> Our people are not fighting with collapsed states, but with a serious opponent who is armed with a serious military—industrial complex," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian troops had hit the energy facilities of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, RT reports.

On February 4, Natalia Nikonorova, a senator from the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), reported that mass protests periodically occur in Ukraine in connection with problems in the economy and social sphere. It is noted that many demonstrations are also related to the problem in the country's energy sector.

On February 3, the Russian military, in response to terrorist attacks, hit the enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and the energy facilities that provided their work with missiles and drones. 360.ru .

Residents of Kiev blocked the road on January 28 due to a heating shutdown. It is specified that there has been no heating in the area where the rally is taking place for more than a week.

The head of the board of the national energy company Ukrenergo, Vitaly Zaichenko, said on the same day that there was an acute shortage of capacity in the Ukrainian energy system.
