NATO is preparing Europe for a large-scale military clash with Russia in the next two to four years. This was stated on February 4 by Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control.

"Today we are witnessing the process of preparation by the North Atlantic Alliance for a large—scale military clash with the Russian Federation," Zhdanova said, speaking at the 1126th plenary session of the OSCE Forum on Security Cooperation. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

She said that specific dates for such training have already been set in European capitals — in the future, two to four years. Zhdanova stressed that such a course of the alliance undermines the foundations of pan-European security and leads to increased military tension on the continent.

On February 2, it became known that the French military had worked out the "Battle for Moscow" scenario at headquarters exercises. CCF representatives noted that the purpose of the training was to increase the operational readiness of headquarters and improve command and control skills in difficult combat conditions.

Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on January 29 that NATO was actually preparing for a potential conflict with Russia. He noted that in the current doctrinal documents of the alliance, Russia is considered as "the most significant and direct threat to security," and this status will remain in the long term, even if the situation in Ukraine is resolved.
