The growth of the average cost of new cars in the Russian Federation slowed down in January

According to the results of the first month of 2026, the average cost of a new car of Chinese brands officially represented on the Russian market amounted to 3.94 million rubles, which is 3% higher than in December. This is due to the traditional price indexation at the beginning of the year, Auto experts told Izvestia on February 5.ru Business". They noted that the growth in the average cost of new cars in the Russian Federation has slowed down.

At the beginning of the year, most manufacturers revised retail prices for their products, and the share of new domestic brands continued to increase. According to analysts, compared to January last year, the supply of Russian brands increased by 11%. By the end of January, the average cost of a new car from a Russian manufacturer was 2.03 million rubles, and from a Chinese manufacturer — 3.94 million rubles.

Among the models whose average cost decreased most noticeably in January were Lada Aura (-6.5%; 2.55 million rubles), Lada Largus (-2%; 1.85 million rubles) and Exeed LX (-1.5%; 3.21 million rubles). In some regions, a decrease in the average cost of a new car was recorded. The Saratov Region became the leader in this indicator in January (-8%; 3.36 million rubles), followed by the Stavropol Territory (-4%; 1.79 million rubles) and the Samara Region (-1%; 2.75 million rubles).

The increase in the average cost in most regions was similar to the federal values. Only in the Bryansk region, an increase of 18% was recorded at once, to 3.58 million rubles, but it was due to a simultaneous reduction in the supply in the segment to 1.5 million rubles by almost half and an increase in the number of ads in the category from 3 million to 5 million rubles by almost 12%, experts explained.
