Libya called the murder of Gaddafi's son aimed at undermining national reconciliation
The murder of Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif al-Islam, is aimed at undermining national reconciliation efforts. On February 4, the Libyan Presidential Council wrote about this on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
"We call on all political forces to wait for the official results of the investigation, which we will closely monitor in order to prevent impunity," the statement said.
The Presidential Council also appealed to media representatives and politicians to "show restraint in public discourse and refrain from incitement."
Earlier in the day, supporters of Gaddafi's dead son said that his murder deprives the country of a chance for a peaceful settlement of the internal conflict.
Ahmed Gaddafi, the nephew of the murdered man, posted his uncle's last audio message on February 4, in which he criticized the foreign invasion of Libya after the so-called Arab Spring of 2011.
On February 3, the Libya al-Ahrar TV channel reported the murder of the son of the former head of Libya in the south of the state during a military attack. No details of the incident were reported.
