Swiss lawyers have filed a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court (ICC) accusing Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis of complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on February 3 by the Swissinfo portal.

According to the applicants, the Foreign Minister did not ensure the termination of Swiss military cooperation with Israel and did not take sufficient measures to prevent a fatal escalation of the conflict in Gaza. The Swiss Foreign Ministry said it had taken note of the appeal.

It is noted that Kassis was not the only official against whom lawyers from his own country filed a complaint with The Hague. In 2025, similar lawsuits were filed with the ICC against the leaders of Italy and France, as well as the heads of foreign policy and defense departments of these states.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on January 22 that the scale of destruction in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic, it is almost completely destroyed. A week later, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said that he considered the creation of a full-fledged Palestinian state to be fundamental.

Experts from the UN Commission of Inquiry into the events in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel said on September 16 last year that the Jewish state had committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
