Traces of the wolverine were found in the Akshinsky reserve during accounting work. The predator left paw prints under the rocks on the Akuya River, according to the Telegram channel "Zapovednoe Zabaikalie" on Wednesday, February 4.

The wolverine is one of the most secretive animals in the region, writes ChitaMedia news agency. Even experienced hunters rarely get to see this beast in person.

The predator belongs to the family of martens, but it is much larger in size than sable, mink or bamboo. His footprints are similar to those of a small bear.

The beast lives in the most remote corners of the taiga, near the rocks where its main prey, musk deer, lives. However, the wolverine also copes with larger animals: roe deer, raisins, young moose and wild boars. Wolves and bears also avoid it.

Earlier it was reported that a new version of the Red Book of Animals was released in Transbaikalia. The work on the publication was carried out for five years.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
