The deputy named the main reasons for the emergence of new professions in Russia
Updating the all-Russian classifier of professions is designed to reflect real changes in the economy, legalize new specialties and synchronize the labor market with the education system. Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, told Izvestia about this, commenting on the entry into force of the new list of professions from January 1, 2026.
According to the MP, the need for a large-scale revision of the document has been overdue for a long time: the previous classifier has been in effect since 1994 and has ceased to correspond to the structure of the modern economy.
"Over three decades, entire industries have emerged: the digital economy, creative industries, bioengineering, employing millions of people, but their positions have not been formally fixed. At the same time, a number of professions have lost their relevance or have been seriously transformed," said Nilov.
He stressed that the renovation is carried out, among other things, within the framework of the president's instructions and is aimed at bringing together the demands of business and the educational system.
"Colleges and universities are already training specialists in areas that are not in the old registers. The new classifier will make it possible to bring educational standards in line with the needs of the real sector," the parliamentarian explained.
According to Nilov, special attention is paid to the legalization of employment in digital and creative fields. We are talking about professions related to IT, marketplaces, neural networks and cybersecurity, which previously were often disguised as generalized positions.
"The official recognition of such specialties strengthens the legal status of employees and allows them to correctly draw up employment contracts, staffing tables and personnel reports. It also gives the government a more accurate picture of the labor market and helps predict the need for personnel," he concluded.
