The expert spoke about the importance of practical survival skills for teenagers
Military-patriotic education programs provide teenagers with practical skills that can save lives in an emergency. This was stated by Daria Borisova, director of the Avangard Center for Military-Patriotic Education of Youth, on February 4 at the Izvestia press center during a press conference dedicated to the presentation of a textbook on basic military training for students of secondary vocational schools and schoolchildren, as well as the first All-Russian Forum on Basic Military Training (NVP).
According to the expert, many children today do not have basic survival skills. "Children can't read a map, use a compass, and don't know what to eat in the woods if they get lost. They don't know how to filter water or make a fire. <...> All arguments about militarization are broken down by what is actually happening. We are focused on ensuring that within the framework of five and a half days of training, the student learns something specific and useful," Borisova said.
She stressed that these skills are critically important in civilian life, especially when a child finds himself in a dangerous situation without parents.
On November 13, the press service of the Russian government announced the expansion of the list of military personnel eligible for compensation payments instead of retirement pensions. It was clarified that military personnel under the contract who performed tasks to repel armed invasion and provocations in the regions bordering their homeland would receive monthly compensation in the amount of a full pension for their service.
