Over the past day, 204 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 18 people were killed and 241 injured. 16 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on February 4 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 72 accidents, 42 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 30 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 71 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 11 underage pedestrians, six of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.

11 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 14 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. There were also 23 accidents involving minors, in which 25 young road users, including 14 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

In some regions of the country, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced due to adverse weather conditions. So, in the Samara region, since yesterday evening, due to heavy snow, a blizzard, and poor visibility, truck traffic on the M-5 Ural federal highway has been temporarily restricted from 1034 km to 1195 km. Previously, restrictions were imposed on the movement of trucks and buses from 890 km to 972 km, as well as from 29 km to 130 km. Due to bad weather in the region, there is still a restriction for buses on the federal highway A-300 Samara - Bolshaya Chernihiv from 23 km to 144 km.

For the same reasons, the movement of trucks and buses along the federal highway M-5 Ural was limited in the Republic of Bashkortostan from 1285 to 1363 km, as well as from 1480 km to 1549 km, in the Orenburg region — from 1194 km to 1252 km. In addition, since midnight in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the M-7 Volga highway has been blocked in the area from 1194 km to 1290 km and seven more roads of regional significance.

In the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, due to the deterioration of the weather in Georgia, traffic on the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz - Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia has been stopped since yesterday evening in the direction of departure from the Russian Federation. Also, since noon, traffic for trucks and buses on the A-164 Transcam federal highway from the village of Buron (65 km) to the northern portal of the Roki tunnel (94 km) has been temporarily restricted in the region due to worsening weather in the adjacent territory of South Ossetia.

"The State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. If traffic restrictions are imposed or road sections are closed due to worsening weather, the right decision would be to temporarily refrain from long trips, postponing them to a later date until favorable weather conditions occur," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier that day, it was reported that the Russian Interior Ministry had prepared a draft order that defines a list of indicators, criteria and frequency of evaluation of the effectiveness of driving schools in Russia.
