The first selection of astronauts using AI has begun in Russia.
A new selection for the cosmonaut squad has started in Russia, which for the first time will take place using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This was reported on February 4 on the website of the Roscosmos press service.
"The next selection for the Roscosmos cosmonaut squad has started. Dmitry Bakanov, the head of the state corporation, approved the regulations on the procedure and conditions for holding an open competition for the selection of citizens of the Russian Federation as cosmonaut candidates," the message says.
Oleg Kononenko, commander of the detachment, Hero of Russia, acting head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, noted that those who pass all the selection stages for the new set of Roscosmos cosmonauts will have to work at the new Russian Orbital Station (ROS) and carry out missions on the Moon.
Georgy Emelin, Chief Designer of Space Energy, announced the planned first launch of a private Kamchatka-1 rocket in 2026. He clarified that the launch is planned to be broadcast live. The Kapustin Yar landfill in the Astrakhan region was chosen as the proposed launch site.
