The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea has sentenced a resident of Feodosia to eighteen years in prison in a high-security penal colony in a case of high treason. This was announced on February 4 by the press service of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

"The man, through a foreign WhatsApp Internet messenger (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), proactively handed over photographs, video materials and electronic files to the Ukrainian special service," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

It is noted that according to the court's decision, after serving the main sentence, the convicted person was also given a restriction of liberty for a period of one year and eight months. The verdict has not yet entered into force.

According to the department, the man, a native of the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, was found guilty of transferring information to the Ukrainian special services that poses a threat to the security of the Russian Federation.

The perpetrator transferred files with coordinates of Russian military facilities, critical infrastructure facilities, as well as locations of air defense systems.

The intelligence service stated that the transmitted data was later used by the enemy to plan sabotage and launch rocket and artillery strikes.

On December 26, 2025, a court in Karelia sentenced Vladimir Koklovsky, a resident of the Murmansk Region, to 18 years in prison in a case of high treason and preparation of sabotage. The investigation found that, on the instructions of the Ukrainian curator, the man was going to set fire to military aircraft in Karelia and two objects on the railway in the Murmansk region.
