Russian motorcycle Aurus Merlon has been certified
The Aurus Merlon electric motorcycle has been certified and received Vehicle Type Approval (OTT), which allows it to launch mass sales of the model. This was reported by RIA Novosti on February 4.
The manufacturer of the Aurus Merlon motorcycle is the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI State Scientific Center, as indicated in the OTS. The model is almost 2.3 m long, 1.9 m wide, and 1.5 m high. The motorcycle is equipped with a side—mounted sidecar trailer and an electric motor with a maximum 30—minute power of 87 hp, curb weight is 625 kg.
"Merlon" is a prong of the Kremlin fortress wall. The name continues the tradition of linking the names of Aurus models with the Kremlin. Aurus Merlon was created by order of the Special Purpose Garage of the Federal Security Service of Russia. As part of the motorcade of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Merlon motorcycles appeared in May 2024.
At the end of last year, Aurus representatives said that the company was ready to discuss and accept orders for Merlon motorcycles. The main parts and components in the Aurus motorcycle are of domestic production, some of them are manufactured in Moscow on the territory of FSUE NAMI. Acceleration of a motorcycle from a standstill to a hundred takes less than four seconds, and the maximum speed exceeds 225 km/h.
The Murommashzavod enterprise in the Vladimir region has launched the production of steering rails with an electric booster for Aurus cars and electric gantry bridges for KamAZ electric buses. As specified on February 3, the total investment in the creation of a new production facility exceeded 2.2 billion rubles, of which 1.75 billion was provided by the Federal Fund for Industrial Development.
