The United States reported on the possible imposition of sanctions against Algeria
Washington may impose sanctions against Algeria over its purchase of Russian fighter jets. This was announced on February 3 by Robert Palladino, head of the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Middle East Affairs.
"Transactions such as the ones you described may lead to an appropriate decision," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying during a hearing before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Middle East, South Asian, and Central Asian Affairs.
He clarified that the US State Department is committed to complying with the law on countering alleged "opponents" of its state. It is possible to comply with this, as Palladino clarified, through sanctions.
