The scammers began offering to write off debts through the MFC
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has warned about a new scheme of fraudsters who send letters offering to write off debts through the MFC. This was announced on February 4 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies.
"Scammers are sending out offers to "write off debts through the IFC as part of a government program." By clicking on a link from such letters, the user gets to a phishing resource, where he will be asked to assess the chances of debt cancellation by passing a test," the agency explained.
According to TASS, to get the "results" you will need to enter a text message code, although there are no government programs for automatic debt cancellation. The only legal way is bankruptcy proceedings under Federal Law No. 127.
Earlier, on January 29, it was reported that bank card blockages are often associated with formulations in the purpose of payment. Sofya Lukinova, Head of the Legal Department at VMT Consult, emphasized that it is better to use neutral comments when making personal translations. When paying for goods and services, it is important to specify a specific purpose so as not to arouse suspicion from the bank.
