The police detained a suspect in an accident that occurred in February 2021, as the perpetrator of the incident had been hiding in Africa all this time. This was announced on February 4 by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Irkutsk region.
"The staff of the Interpol National Security Service and the Center for Countering Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Irkutsk region, as a result of a complex of operational search measures, established the location of a 37-year-old man who had been hiding from criminal prosecution for five years," the agency's Telegram channel said.
It is noted that the man was hiding in the Republic of South Africa (South Africa), where he was engaged in business and real estate. Subsequently, the defendant was returned to Irkutsk.
Currently, a criminal case has been reopened into the crimes.
