At least 14 people died while detaining a boat with migrants in Greece

At least 14 people were killed and 24 others injured when a Greek Coast Guard ship detained a boat with illegal migrants on board. This was reported on February 3 by the ERT-news TV channel.

It is reported that the incident occurred in the area of Myrsinidio beach on the island of Chios. 22 migrants were taken to a medical facility. There are also seven children and a pregnant woman among them. In addition, two Coast Guard officers needed medical assistance.

It is noted that several people went missing after the incident. A search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate them.

Skai TV channel, citing the Greek Coast Guard, reported on December 6 that a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of the Greek island of Crete, resulting in 18 drownings. It is specified that two people managed to be saved.
