US President Donald Trump's trade duties against the European Union (EU) and the UK may teach them a "lesson" for putting pressure on the social network X. This was announced on February 4 by Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation in X.

"Daddy Trump's tariffs may finally teach the EU and the UK a lesson for X," he wrote.

As a warning, Dmitriev reminded that any actions "have consequences."

The French prosecutor's office had begun searching X's offices a day earlier. It was noted that the searches were conducted together with employees of the National Cyber Division and Interpol. American billionaire and platform owner Elon Musk described the events as a political attack.

Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, called France an unfree country on February 3 after searches of X's offices. He noted that France is the only country in the world that criminalizes social networks that provide users with a certain degree of freedom. He cited Telegram, X, and TikTok as examples.
