NATO countries have begun planning an observation operation in the Arctic amid the escalation of the situation around Greenland. This was announced on February 3 by the official representative of the headquarters of the Supreme High Command of the United Armed Forces of NATO in Europe (SHAPE), Colonel Martin O'Donnell.

"Planning has begun for enhanced NATO surveillance operations called Arctic Sentry," the RTBF TV channel quoted him as saying.

It is noted that the planned operation is expected to strengthen the positions of the military alliance in the Far North and in the Arctic region.
