In January, specialists from the Moscow City Management complex checked more than 105,000 gas stoves in Moscow residents' apartments. This was announced on Tuesday, February 3, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

He noted that their efficiency and compliance with safety requirements had been assessed, and the schedule of inspections for 2026 had already been formed and published — information on dates and times was posted on stands in entrances and courtyards, the Moscow City News agency reported.

Biryukov stressed that gas safety is under special control: Mosgaz JSC annually conducts scheduled maintenance of the entire gasified housing stock. According to him, when violations are detected, specialists eliminate threats and give recommendations on operation or repair. He also recalled that the average service life of a gas stove is 10-12 years, after which the wear of the elements makes safe operation impossible and equipment replacement is required, writes Moscow 24.

The deputy mayor added that gas stoves should be equipped with a "gas control" system that automatically cuts off the gas supply when the flame goes out. According to him, the responsibility for the proper condition and timely replacement of gas equipment lies with the owners or tenants of the housing.

On February 2, Mosoblgaz recalled the basic precautions when using gas in the cold. In particular, it is necessary to ventilate the room regularly, open the windows for a few minutes every two hours, monitor the chimney and ventilation. 360.ru .
