In the Leningrad region, a mother threw two children out of a window and committed suicide

In the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region, a woman threw two children from a balcony, after which she committed suicide. This is reported by the prosecutor's office of the region.

The incident occurred in Novogorelovo, a 23-year-old woman threw two children born in 2024 and 2025 from the common balcony of a high-rise building. After that, the woman committed suicide.

The mother died on the spot, the children survived and were hospitalized with injuries at a children's hospital in St. Petersburg. The prosecutor's office found the initiation of a criminal case under Part 3 of art. 30, paragraphs "a", "b" of Part 2 of art.105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder") lawful and justified.

"The prosecutor's office will give a full and comprehensive assessment of the work of the prevention system, including the medical institutions of the district, special attention will be paid to the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of minors," the press service said.

On January 27, a woman was arrested in Ufa on suspicion of murdering her young daughter. She strangled the child, realizing his helplessness. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 1 month and 29 days, until March 25, 2026, the woman is accused of committing a crime under paragraph "b" of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder").
