RUSADA told about the disqualification of skater Fatkulina
Russian speed skater Olga Fatkulina has been disqualified since the fall of 2025 for violating anti-doping rules. This was reported on February 3 by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
"The Disciplinary Anti—Doping Committee of the RAA RUSADA has decided to disqualify athlete Olga Fatkulina for 12 months," the organization's website says.
The information does not specify which prohibited substance was found in the sample of the 36-year-old athlete and when this violation occurred. Fatkulina's disqualification took effect on October 28, 2025, but the period of her suspension already takes into account the period of temporary suspension, which began on December 3, 2024. Thus, in fact, the period of ineligibility has already expired.
"I wanted to finish, but it's so hard to find myself in another place. Later I realized that I like it here, I enjoy it, and I would like to compete next season," TASS quoted Faktulina as saying.
Olga Fatkulina won a silver medal at the Sochi Olympics in the 500 m, and is also the 2013 world champion in the 1000 m and a two-time bronze medalist at the World Championships in the sprint all-around.
Italian biathlete Rebecca Pasler tested positive for doping on February 2 before the start of the home Winter Olympic Games. It was clarified that Passler took the test out of competition. The 24-year-old athlete was a member of the Italian national team at the upcoming international competitions.
