On February 3, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on the leadership of the Vitebsk region to military discipline, saying that their approach to managing the region could lead the country to war.

"You (the leadership of the Vitebsk region — Ed.) are stunned. You want to bring exactly the country to war. But keep in mind that we will have to go ahead," the Belarusian leader said. The video was posted on the Telegram channel Pool One.

Lukashenko accused local officials of ignoring the mass death of livestock and stressed that in cold conditions the animals had to be kept warm in their own homes.

Lukashenko said on January 30 that salaries in the country should be linked to the efficiency of staff. According to him, this approach now applies to all enterprises and organizations in the country.
