The angel's face in the fresco in the Roman church of San Lorenzo in Lucina, which after restoration acquired a portrait resemblance to Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, will be modified. The goal is to return the mural to the way it was on the original version in 2000, when it was first completed. This was reported on February 3 by the newspaper La Repubblica.

According to the newspaper, the restoration of the fresco was carried out by non-professional restorers who worked in other parts of the basilica. The similarity was noticed after the restoration of the fresco, carried out by 83-year-old Bruno Valentinetti. He is the author of an original work created in 2000 for the jubilee year of Christianity.

Meloni herself posted a photo of the mural on her Instagram page (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), captioning it: "No, I definitely don't look like an angel."

The "Face of Meloni" was discovered on January 31 on a fresco in the church of San Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome after its restoration. On February 1, it became known that the Diocese of Rome and the Ministry of Culture would conduct an inspection of the fresco.
