The Chinese company Xpeng has launched the production of a six-wheeled minivan, complete with an aircraft, at a new facility in China. The first deliveries to customers are scheduled for the end of 2026, the price will be approximately 2 million yuan (about 22 million rubles), Carscoops reported on February 3.

The pre-production prototype of the "aircraft carrier car" was presented at the Shanghai Auto Show last spring. The three-axle machine is called the Land Aircraft Carrier, and in its rear part there is a compartment for an aircraft with an electric power plant and vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL).

The van is 5.5 m long, 2 m wide and 2 m high. It is known that it runs on an 800-volt electrical system and has a hybrid power plant that allows it to travel more than 1,000 km without recharging or refueling. The aircraft is made mainly of carbon fiber and has six rotors. It is noted that eVTOL has received a certificate of airworthiness in China.

At the first stage, Xpeng plans to produce 5,000 vans and aircraft per year at the Guangzhou plant, and later increase production to 10,000 units per year.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on November 6 that the Chinese company EHang plans to launch flying taxi services from major airports in the coming years. According to the company's CFO, Conor Yang, the trips will cost between 200 and 300 yuan ($28-42), which is slightly more expensive than a premium class taxi ride.
