Registrations of Honda cars in Russia increased by 18%
Last year, 3166 new Honda cars were registered in Russia, which is 18% more than a year earlier. At the same time, the Japanese company is not officially represented in the country. On February 3, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, shared statistics on his Telegram channel.
According to the expert, Russians also imported 78.3 thousand used Honda cars into the country last year, an increase of 12% year-on-year.
Tselikov drew attention to the fact that in 2025, Honda reduced car production by 9% worldwide, with an output of 3.4 million vehicles. Honda's production in Japan decreased by 0.5% to 689.8 thousand units. At the same time, foreign production decreased by almost 11%, to 2.7 million units.
Production of Honda cars fell the most in Indonesia (-47%), Malaysia (22%) and China (-16%), the expert notes, citing data from GlobalData Automotive. In North America, the decline was 6%, with output dropping to 1.52 million units.
Yesterday it became known that the Mazda brand, which has not been officially represented in Russia since 2022, has been among the top ten car brands in terms of sales of new cars in the country for the second week in a row. Since the beginning of the year, more than 2 thousand new cars of this Japanese brand have been registered in the Russian Federation. At the same time, 90% of Mazda's sales are accounted for by the CX-5 crossover, which by the end of January entered the top 10 most popular models among Russians.
As for European brands, their sales in Russia have also increased. So, at the end of January, it was reported that 36.6 thousand Mercedes-Benz passenger cars were imported to Russia in 2025, which is 47% more than a year earlier. 64 thousand BMW cars were also imported, which is 44% more than a year earlier.
