- The Heroes of a Big Country Film Award will be held at the Rossiya National Center
On February 11-12, the forum and the award ceremony of the third National Film Award "Heroes of a Big Country" will be held at the Rossiya National Center. The award recognizes feature films, documentaries, and animated series that create the image of a modern hero based on the core values of service, family, collectivism, historical continuity, and responsibility for the fate of the Motherland.
Panel discussions will be held with the participation of representatives of the film industry, online platforms, science, education, government and business. The participants will discuss what themes and characters the country needs today and are in demand by the audience, how the psychology of the viewer works, whose tastes and habits have been shaped by foreign film production over the past forty years, where the boundary between edification and live drama lies.
Mikhail Churbanov, the general producer of the film Award, notes: "We will have to learn how to build a hero based on our traditional values and work with the current challenges facing society and the country. The success of the industry cannot be based on projects that destroy our identity, introduce behavioral patterns alien to our culture, offset the priority of spiritual values and do not contribute to the development of the economy. Today, it is possible to rediscover the forgotten laws of drama and the basic principles of true cinematography, and then, with a responsible approach to visual quality, cinema will not only serve the interests of the country and a particular person, family, but in most cases will be commercially successful."
A separate innovation of the film award are the semantic centers "Heroes and Cinematic Universes 2030" and "Values in Cinema and content". On the sidelines of the forum, leading producers and experts from the film industry will use special techniques to develop applied solutions for the development of the industry based on the criteria of traditional values and the production of spiritual and moral films for a large audience inside and outside Russia. Reports for the plenary session and the final report will be prepared based on the results.
Tatiana Tretyakova, producer and curator of the Film Award's research program, emphasizes: "Participants in Semantic Centers will look for solutions on how to rebuild the culture of domestic film production so that the state task is solved to bring the share of projects promoting traditional values to the declared 70% by 2030, and the "ambiguous characters" of films and TV series and the visual images used are not they scared off the family audience. Today, it is important that the form attracts a mass audience and works for deep content."
532 projects have been announced for the film award. The shortlist according to the criteria of "industrial quality" and "17 values - the image of a hero" includes 55 films and TV series. The award ceremony will be held in 19 nominations, including "Heroes of science and technology", "Man of Work", "Heroes — builders of the future", "Heroes of the SVO", "Heroes-defenders", "Heroes of education", "Heroes of the family", as well as special nominations "History and meanings", "Service and honor" and "Dreams of the future". The shortlist is "Lilies of the Valley. Such tender love", "At the edge of the abyss", "Was not on the list", "Red Silk", "Catherine the Great", "GDR", "Plevako", "Blood type", "Doctor Vera", "Lovers of mathematics", "Committee" and others.
The winners will be determined by a competent jury, taking into account the assessment of the perception and impact of the works on the youth audience. On February 12, the winners will be awarded the "golden stars" and the "golden glove", as well as the winner of the "big golden star" for the best film project.
The jury included the creators of the winning projects of the second film award, representatives of online platforms and TV channels, film industry experts, researchers, psychologists, etc. "Today, purposeful steps are being taken to outline the boundaries of the responsibility of filmmakers, which certainly affects the worldview of the audience, primarily the youth. At the same time, the task is to set up mechanisms for coordinating and evaluating the content of films and TV series. In this sense, the film Award not only supports this trend, but also sets it to a large extent. It is important that our approach is supported at the state level: the project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, which helps to expand the audience and make the results of the forum practical," Churbanov adds.
