Foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confused the military of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with a Ukrainian in the DPR

During the liberation of Toretsky in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confused a Russian serviceman with a Ukrainian militant. Oleg Lozovoy, commander of the assault platoon of the 102nd Guards Regiment of the Center group of forces, told about this on February 3.

"When he [the Russian soldier] was at a certain point, two men approached him and began asking him something in a foreign language. <...> There was such confusion: they did not understand who was in front of them - their own or someone else's," Lozovoy told RIA Novosti.

It is noted that the mercenaries, having received no response, turned around and left.

The confusion may have occurred due to the similarity of the uniforms of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers.
