On Tuesday, February 3, in the Leningrad region, near the Lower Shingersky Waterfall, the body of a nine-year-old child was found, which had been searched for several days. What happened

On the evening of February 2, a detainee in the case of the abduction of nine-year-old Pasha Tifitulin confessed to the murder of the child. It was reported that the suspect was Peter Zh. He drowned the boy in one of the local reservoirs. At the same time, the man had previously refused to testify during the interrogation, citing Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation (the right not to testify against himself).

On the fact of the incident, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case under the article "Murder of a minor."

On the night of February 3, representatives of the department, on the instructions of the detainee, began searching for the child's body in the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region. According to the Investigative Committee, investigators also conducted searches at the places of residence of the defendant, examined his car and studied information media containing information important for the investigation.

Discovery of a child's body

Later, a source from Izvestia reported the discovery of the body of a nine-year-old child in a frozen reservoir near the Lower Shingersky Waterfall. Volunteers also arrived at the site. Through the ice, they noticed clothes and a briefcase that could belong to the boy.

The body of a child with bound legs was pulled out of the water. It was reported that police officers were working at the site.

After the discovery of Pasha's body, investigators from the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg questioned the suspect in the case of the death of a nine-year-old boy.

"Investigative actions will also be carried out with the suspect at the scene," the agency said in a message on the MAX messenger.

A volunteer who was at the scene and participated in the search for the missing man told Izvestia that the boy's body was bound with duct tape in the area of his arms, legs and head. It is possible that the child was tortured.

What is known about the suspect

A source told Izvestia that the alleged abductor of a nine-year-old boy offered children a ride in his car in the parking lot of a hypermarket for money. The man suspected of kidnapping came to St. Petersburg from the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) and had previously been convicted of assaulting a security official.

The seller at the store where the suspect regularly went, said that Peter Zh. He was known for his rude attitude towards people around him, and also behaved mysteriously. The suspect himself claimed to own a large plot of land in the village of Yalgelevo. His neighbor Valeria noted that Peter seemed to her a "nasty man." She also recalled an alarming incident that occurred in Yalgelevo in 2024.

"There was a case a couple of years ago when a drowned man was found in a lake with a kettlebell and a backpack in the village. We went to Peter to ask him to provide us with surveillance cameras, but he refused. It seemed strange to us," the woman said.
