An employer may dismiss an employee for being more than four hours late for work. This was announced on February 3 by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of Russia (CC RF) for the public examination of draft laws and other regulations.

"Being late for up to four hours cannot be the reason for dismissal. However, if an employee is not on site for more than four hours, this is considered absenteeism, which can lead to dismissal. If an employee regularly arrives later, this may be a reason for disciplinary action," Masharov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is noted that in this case, the employer cannot issue a fine, according to the country's labor legislation. Only remarks, reprimands, and dismissals are allowed.
