Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces told about the liberation of Petrovka in Zaporozhye

The assault units of the Vostok group of forces liberated the Petrovka settlement in the Zaporizhia region during active hostilities. This was announced on February 3 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The ministry clarified that units of the 114th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 127th Division of the 5th Guards Combined Arms Army participated in the operation. According to the attack aircraft with the call sign Viking, the approach to the settlement was carried out taking into account the weather conditions.

"If there is such an opportunity, then we wait for the weather. Fog, snow, rain. As they say, bad weather is good for us. And we're moving in bad weather. We have gained a foothold in the first house. The first house was like a storage unit. And the drive has already started to go out one or two at a time to the next houses," he said.

The commander of the assault platoon with the call sign Thunder noted that the soldiers acted in small groups, covering each other and consistently clearing buildings.

"We moved in small groups. It all depended on the weather: fog, no fog, snow, rain. That is, accordingly, for a stormtrooper this is the most important thing. <...> We have a task, we will complete it anyway. Whatever it was," he said.

Earlier, on January 31, it was reported that during the liberation of Petrovka, units of the Vostok group of forces destroyed up to 10 units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A defense area of up to 5 square kilometers was taken over by the Russian forces, and forest belts and defense sites were cleared. The Defense Ministry also noted that the enemy's attempts to hold the settlement by transferring reserves were unsuccessful, and the Vostok group continues to expand its control zone and increase pressure on the enemy's defenses.
