Tehran is ready to negotiate on its nuclear program exclusively with Washington, considering European countries to be incompetent. This was announced on February 2 by advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Shamkhani in an interview with Al Mayadeen TV channel.

"Europe has proved its inability to do anything after [US President Donald] Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018, as well as during the negotiations before the war last June, to the extent that Trump did not even allow them to interfere in these issues," Shamkhani said, noting that in subsequent years Brussels also failed to play a significant role.

According to him, Iran continues to receive signals about possible negotiations with the United States and "there is hope to avoid war" if the conditions are reasonable and the dialogue takes place without threats.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff is expected to hold talks on the Iranian nuclear program with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on February 6 in Istanbul. According to the Axios portal, the meeting is seen as part of attempts to resume dialogue between Washington and Tehran amid ongoing tensions. At the same time, there were no official confirmations from the United States and Iran at that time, and Turkey was called a possible neutral platform for contacts.
