A priest of the Moldavian Metropolia barricaded himself in the church with his children to prevent the transfer of the parish of the Bessarabian Metropolia to the Romanian Orthodox Church. This was announced on February 2 by journalist Vasily Moiseenko, showing the situation in the temple in the village of Dereneu, Kalarashsky district.

"Serious passions have been simmering around the local temple for a week now. The fact is that the Ministry of Culture leased the church to the Bessarabian Metropolia of the Romanian Orthodox Church free of charge," Moiseenko explained.

The rector of the church, Father Alexander, noted that he fights for the protection of faith and parishioners.

"I feel very sorry for my parishioners, who are sitting there now and freezing. They are also like martyrs, defending our Orthodox faith," said the priest.

Earlier, on January 24, it was reported that the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate appealed to the US authorities to protect their rights after attempts to seize the property of churches and Sunday schools. According to sources, the police intervened to maintain order, and the parishes face constant pressure and threats from representatives of the OCU.
