Iran's IRGC declared a terrorist organization in Ukraine
Kiev has declared the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran a terrorist organization. This was announced on February 2 by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
"[The Ukrainian authorities] have already identified this organization (IRGC. — Ed.) terrorist, this issue is closed for us," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
Zelensky stressed that the Ukrainian authorities have already made the appropriate decision, while in the European Union (EU) the procedure for declaring the IRGC a terrorist organization is still ongoing.
According to him, the Iranian regime has invested in spreading war and violence in the region and the world.
The Iranian parliament yesterday recognized the armed forces of the EU member states as terrorist organizations. The speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, added that the Republic considers the armies of the EU countries that have included the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations of the bloc to be "terrorist groups."
On January 24, Reuters reported that the United States is increasing pressure on Bolivia, seeking from the new authorities to recognize the IRGC as a terrorist organization and expel alleged Iranian intelligence officers. According to the agency, the relevant demands were transmitted to the Bolivian side in a closed manner through diplomatic channels.
On January 29, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the EU had included the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations. At that time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in turn, stated on the same social network that the inclusion of the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations was a "strategic mistake" by the EU.
