New overpasses and a pedestrian crossing have been commissioned in Moscow at the intersection of Yuzhnaya Rokada and Moskovsky High-Speed Diameter. This was announced on Monday, February 2, by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

He noted that this section is of key importance for the city's transport system, as it provides direct traffic from Kapotnya to Rublyovskoye highway. According to the mayor, 2.6 km of roads were built as part of the project, including the main course of the 870-meter-long highway with two overpasses, as well as the exit from the MSD towards Proletarsky Prospekt, Moscow 24 notes.

Sobyanin stressed that the Southern Ring Road has become the fourth new highway in the central part of Moscow, along with the North-Western Chord and the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. He added that work on the project has been underway for several years and is now fully completed.

Since 2013, 60.7 km of roads, 22 artificial structures and 15 pedestrian crossings have been built as part of the Southern Rockade project, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
