A man detained on suspicion of abducting a 9-year-old boy in St. Petersburg refused to testify during interrogation. This was reported on February 2 in the operational services.

"The detainee took advantage of Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation (the right not to testify against himself — Ed.)," the operational services told RIA Novosti.

It is reported that the search for the child who disappeared on January 30 in the Krasnoselsky district of the city continues around the clock. The investigation is working out all possible versions of what happened.

Earlier that day, a source from Izvestia reported that a nine-year-old boy could have been abducted. According to preliminary data, the alleged suspect works in the construction sector. He is described as a middle-aged man who lives in affluence and is engaged in construction work.

On February 1, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg reported on the continuation of the search for a nine-year-old boy who left home. The police and LizaAlert volunteers are involved in the search for the boy. It was noted that the investigation is checking all versions of what happened. Law enforcement agencies are also reviewing surveillance cameras to reconstruct the events.

A source from Izvestia reported on February 2 that the abductor of a nine-year-old boy in St. Petersburg offered children a ride in his car in the parking lot of a hypermarket for money. On the same day, it also became known that law enforcement agencies had detained a suspect in the abduction.
