Excessive diligence in training and teaching a pet the wrong commands can harm his psyche and pose a threat to others. Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told Izvestia about this on February 3.

"Training is not about total obedience, much less dominance. Team training allows you to establish strong communication between a pet and a human, and each skill should have a specific benefit. The results of training should not negatively affect the quality of life of the animal," the expert emphasized.

According to Golubev, one of the most dangerous and unnecessary teams in everyday life is Fas. Raising a pet for protective functions is a serious responsibility. An amateur is not allowed to learn this command on his own. As a rule, it is used in professional structures, but in everyday life, most breeds are not needed and can pose a threat.

He also recommended abandoning the practice of holding a dog for a long time before a bowl of food.

"Food should not be associated with stress in pets. It is necessary to prohibit lifting dangerous objects on the street, but a bowl of food is a safe area," the dog handler noted.

Golubev called the Voice command another risky skill. In this way, barking is placed in the rank of encouraged actions for the dog, and the pet may start barking constantly, trying to attract attention. It will be difficult to explain why this is possible in some situations and not in others. Instead, Golubev advised teaching "quiet" commands, such as "Give a paw."

The dog handler also urged not to abuse the forbidding command "Fu", using it only when there is a real threat.

"If you command "Fu" during normal actions, such as sniffing curbs, it will cause the pet constant stress and fear of doing something wrong," concluded Golubev.

Golubev on January 14, in an interview with Izvestia, dispelled the widespread myth that wool always reliably protects an animal from the cold. He named the symptoms of frostbite in the pet. At the initial stage of hypothermia, the dog begins to tremble, it tucks its paws, and the ears and pads of its paws get cold.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
