Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis in Moscow on Friday, February 6. This was announced on February 2 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"On February 6, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks in Moscow with Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, who will arrive in Russia as Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. — Ed.)," says Zakharova's response on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Zakharova clarified that overcoming the OSCE crisis was on the agenda of the talks. The parties will discuss the restoration of military-political, economic, environmental and humanitarian security in Europe and the role of the organization in these processes.

According to a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Kassis does not plan to talk to the press following the talks. Lavrov, in turn, will make a statement to journalists.

On January 31, the press service of the Swiss government announced that Cassis, in addition to Moscow, would also visit Kiev. The Minister added that under his leadership, Switzerland has set OSCE priorities for 2026, focusing on protecting peace and security in Europe.

On January 22, Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Dmitry Polyansky, announced Russia's readiness to return to work in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly while rejecting Russophobia. According to him, the European security system is deteriorating. He also believes that the OSCE should balance its agenda so that it reflects the concerns of all participating States without exception.

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on January 20 that NATO and the European Union (EU) were experiencing a profound crisis, and the OSCE was "breathing hard." He also noted that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO, the EU and the OSCE began to be used to introduce Russia's traditional influence into regions, including the South Caucasus, Central Asia and the Far East.
