The alleged abductor of a nine-year-old boy in St. Petersburg offered children a ride in his car for money in the parking lot of a hypermarket. This was announced on February 2 by a source of Izvestia.

According to him, the man suspected of kidnapping came to St. Petersburg from the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) and had previously been convicted of assaulting a security officer.

On the same day, it became known that law enforcement agencies had detained a suspect in the abduction of a nine-year-old boy in St. Petersburg. Later, the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city confirmed this information.

Earlier that day, a source from Izvestia reported that a nine-year-old boy could have been abducted. According to preliminary data, the alleged suspect works in the construction sector. He is described as a middle-aged man who lives in affluence and is engaged in construction work.

On February 1, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg reported on the continuation of the search for a nine-year-old boy who left home. The police and LizaAlert volunteers are involved in the search for the boy. It was noted that the investigation is checking all versions of what happened. Law enforcement agencies are also reviewing surveillance cameras to reconstruct the events.
