Contacts between the presidents of Russia and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Markov, will make sense only if the French leader is ready for a constructive dialogue. This was stated by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on Monday, February 2.

"It makes sense to communicate if Europe and Macron are ready to offer Russia something constructive. For example, the lifting of sanctions, the cessation of sponsorship of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, agreement with our territorial claims," she said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

She noted that if Macron once again decides to "teach life" to Putin, then such contact will lead to nothing.

The parliamentarian explained that Putin agreed to talks with US President Donald Trump because, unlike other Western leaders, he was ready to listen to the Russian side and engage in mediation, disagreeing with Ukraine in everything. At the same time, Europe has made a choice in favor of full agreement with Kiev, she added.
