Coach Tutberidze flew to Milan for the 2026 Olympics
Honored Russian Figure Skating Coach Eteri Tutberidze arrived in Milan, Italy, on February 2 ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
A speed skater from Kazakhstan, Evgeny Koshkin, posted a photo with her on social networks, taking a picture at the guest complexes in the Olympic village.
Figure skater Pyotr Gumennik and Adelia Petrosyan, Tutberidze's student, will compete from Russia. In addition, the coach's daughter Diana Davis will appear at the ceremony, who, along with Luka Berulava, will serve as the flag bearer for the Georgian national team at the opening ceremony of the Games, Sport-Express reports.
Athletes from Russia will participate in competitions without national symbols and under a neutral flag.
At the same time, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on January 24 that Russian athletes would not participate in the opening ceremony of the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy on February 6, as they have a neutral status. Honored USSR figure Skating coach Tatiana Tarasova called the non-admission of Russian athletes discrimination at the same time, saying that the decision should be appealed.
The games will be held from 6 to 22 February in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
