The Russian national field hockey team is allowed to participate in junior international competitions without restrictions. This was announced on February 2 by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee.

"Field hockey has already become the fourth Olympic team sport after volleyball, water polo and curling, in which the way is open for our athletes to return to the international arena," Degtyarev said in a Telegram channel post.

According to Degtyarev, a letter from FIH President Tayyab Ikram informed about the admission of Russian juniors to all international tournaments under the auspices of the International Field Hockey Federation (FIH). Restrictions for athletes under the age of 18 have been lifted immediately in accordance with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee announced at the summit on December 11, 2025.

He added that a total of 11 Olympic sports federations have already allowed juniors and cadets from Russia to compete without restrictions.

Mikhail Degtyarev announced on January 23 that Russian juniors were allowed to compete in weightlifting with a flag and an anthem. The IWF allowed adult Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments in a neutral status.
