Washington has sent signals to Tehran through several channels that it is ready to hold a meeting to conclude a deal. This was reported on February 1 by the Axios portal, citing sources.
"The administration of [US President Donald] Trump informed Iran through several channels that she was open to negotiations on the deal. <...> Trump has not yet made a final decision on the attack on Iran and remains open to a diplomatic solution," the article says.
It is noted that representatives of countries such as Turkey, Egypt and Qatar are currently organizing a meeting between the special envoy of the American President Stephen Witkoff and senior Iranian officials. According to two undisclosed interlocutors of the agency, negotiations between the parties may take place in Ankara from February 2 to February 8.
On the same day, Trump declared his confidence in Tehran's renunciation of nuclear weapons, and later added that he hoped to reach an agreement with the republic, emphasizing the presence of his country's "most powerful ships" near its shores.
A day earlier, the head of the White House clarified that his country wants to negotiate with the Iranian side in order to achieve a concrete result. He clarified that this dialogue is important to prevent further escalation and ensure stability in the region.
