Russia and Afghanistan intend to increase the number of direct flights between the two countries. This was announced on February 2 by the Afghan Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Gul Hassan.

"Ariana Afghan Airlines has been operating one direct flight per week between Afghanistan and Russia for the past four years. Work is also underway to launch direct flights by Kam Air between Kabul and Moscow in the near future," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS.

Hassan added that efforts are being made to increase mutual trips between the countries, so the number of flights will increase in the future.

The first ever direct flight from Casablanca (Morocco) to St. Petersburg landed at Pulkovo Airport at 07:00 Moscow time on January 21. Before the arrival of the first flight, the opening ceremony of the new destination took place at St. Petersburg Airport.
