Russian goalkeeper of PSG Safonov won a penalty in the match against Strasbourg
Russian goalkeeper of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Matvey Safonov scored a penalty in the away match of the 20th round of the French Football Championship against FC Strasbourg Alsace. The match started on February 1, and the score was 1-1 before the break.
In the 20th minute of the match, the Argentine striker of Strasbourg, Joaquin Panicelli, tried to convert a penalty, but Safonov managed to parry the blow. In the 22nd minute, PSG midfielder Senni Mehlu opened the scoring, and in the 27th minute, the opposing team equalized it thanks to a goal by Gela Douai.
Safonov was included in the starting line-up of PSG for the final match of the eighth round of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League football against English Newcastle. For the 26-year-old, this is the first time he has been included in the PSG squad since his injury.
