CSKA Moscow defeated SKA in a shootout match in the KHL regular season
On February 1, CSKA Moscow defeated SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season match. The game ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of the hosts, the winner was determined in a shootout.
SKA hockey players opened the scoring in the match — Andrei Pedan scored the puck in the eighth minute. CSKA recovered before the break thanks to Denis Guryanov's goal. In the second period, the Muscovites took the lead after Nikita Nesterov's accurate shot. In the third twenty minutes, SKA equalized the score — Rocco Grimaldi scored.
In the shootout, Vitaly Abramov scored the decisive goal. CSKA goalkeeper Dmitry Gamzin deflected the last attempt by Brendan Laipsik.
After this victory, CSKA scored 79 points and ranks third in the KHL Western Conference standings. SKA is on the second line with 82 points, maintaining its position in the leadership group.
On January 28, CSKA beat Dynamo in the KHL match at VTB Arena. CSKA won with goals from Nikolay Kovalenko, Mac Hollowell, Ivan Patrikhaev and Ivan Drozdov. Sergey Artemyev and Maxim Komtois scored for Dynamo.
