On February 1, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov offered to ask the Europeans the reason why Europe, amid strained relations with the United States over Greenland, is preparing to fight Russia and is not imposing sanctions against Washington.

"Don't ask me about it. Try to negotiate with them, with someone from their media. They have some correspondents here. Try them on this topic," Lavrov said in response to a request from journalist Pavel Zarubin to comment on Europe's preparations for a military clash with Russia, while the United States openly declares its claims to Greenland.

On the same day, Lavrov announced Europe's attempts to "drive wedges" between Russia and the United States. The Foreign Minister stressed that such an approach does not contribute to the development of constructive dialogue and undermines the foundations of international cooperation.
