The international airport of the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, has resumed accepting flights almost three years after the outbreak of the armed conflict in the country. This was reported on February 1 by the Associated Press (AP).

"Khartoum International Airport has accepted the first scheduled flight since the beginning of hostilities in the country in April 2023," the article says.

160 passengers arrived on board the ship. Sudan Airways has announced that it will operate its first flight from Port Sudan to Khartoum since the beginning of the conflict.

According to the newspaper, since January 20, the airline's only operating aircraft has already resumed flights from Port Sudan International Airport to Cairo and Jeddah.

In March 2025, the Sudanese Armed Forces liberated the capital Khartoum from the rebel formations of the Rapid Reaction Forces. Soldiers have cordoned off areas around the airport in the Sudanese capital, marking a key development in the two-year conflict between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Reaction Forces (RFS).
