Pistorius called on Europeans to rearm with words about a "sad ass"

On February 1, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius cited Martin Luther's expression about a "sad ass" as an example, trying to explain to the audience at the SPD election campaign the need to rearm Europe.

"And here I will not quote [the former German Chancellor]. Willy Brandt, [German Social Democrat] Kurt Schumacher or [German economist] Herbert Schmidt, and [German theologian] Martin Luther: you can't fart happily with a sad ass (there are no historical sources confirming Martin Luther's authorship. — Ed.)," the minister said.

At the same time, he noted that the Europeans themselves must protect democracy from "enemies", among whom the head of the Ministry of Defense also singled out the opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
