The WSJ reported on the negative consequences of AI development for Apple
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) will hit the profits of the American company Apple, as the cost of components for iPhone smartphones will increase. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on February 1.
"Artificial intelligence companies are writing huge checks for chips, memory, specialized fiberglass, and more, and they've started to outpace Apple in the race to get the components. Suppliers, accustomed to catering to Apple's every whim, gain leverage to demand higher prices from the iPhone manufacturer," the article says.
On January 30, Reuters reported that Apple will prioritize the production of flagship models of the new iPhone in 2026 instead of basic models due to a change in marketing strategy and supply chain constraints amid a global shortage of memory chips.
