The Prosecutor's Office of the Moscow Region (MO) has organized an investigation into the emergency stop of the funicular at the ski resort in the village of Stepanovo. Due to a malfunction, tourists were in the cold for a long time at an altitude. This was reported on February 1 in the press service of the department.

"According to preliminary information, the cause of the incident was a technical malfunction related to the cable release from the roller, which led to an emergency stop of the lift at altitude and the need for a complex evacuation of vacationers with the involvement of rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations," the prosecutor's office said in a Telegram channel.

Based on the results of the inspection, an assessment of compliance with safety requirements will be given. The prosecutor's office will also assess how fully and timely the ski complex administration took measures to fix the problem and help people.

The day before, it became known that about 50 people were stuck on a funicular in a ski resort near Dmitrov. The evacuation work took place using a three-wheeled ladder. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties.
